The Champaign County Circuit Clerk is an authorized acceptance agent for passport applications. We do not process the applications here, but will forward them on to the Department of State for you.
How Do I Obtain a Passport?
The State Department website provides forms that you may fill out online and print. Once you have completed and printed the forms, you may bring them to our office along.
What Do I Need to Bring to Apply for a Passport?
You should bring your completed forms, photo ID, proof of U.S. citizenship, passport photos, and payment. Note: Do not sign your application prior to coming to our office. The signature must be witnessed by the accepting passport agent.
Can I Get My Passport Photo Taken There?
Unfortunately, we are not able to take passport photos at this time.
Does My Child Need to be With Me to Apply For a Passport for Him/Her?
Yes. For children under the age of 16 you will also need to submit the following:
•Proof of your child’s U.S. citizenship
•Evidence of your child’s relationship to both parents
•Parental application permission documentation
•Two (2) passport photos
•Your child’s Social Security number
All of this information needs to be supplied in conjunction with the DS-11 form from the Department of State.
How long is my passport good for?
An adult passport is valid for 10 years. Because of the rapidly changing appearances of children, a passport for a child under the age of 16 is only valid for 5 years.
